Even though Lucas Torreira’s transfer from Arsenal to Galatasaray had been delayed, with the player reportedly asking for more time while he negotiated with Serie A and La Liga clubs, it seems this saga is now close to being over.

According to reports from the Italian media, the midfielder is now just ‘one step’ from confirming his move to Turkey.

Tutto Mercato Web writes that on Thursday evening, there was a conference call between Galatasaray and Torreira, and the player ‘was basically convinced’ about signing for them.

It’s claimed that the Turkish side will sign the 26-year-old on a permanent deal, paying Arsenal a €7m fee. And later on today, there will be new contacts to sort the final details of the move, which is ‘really a step away’.

Lucas Torreira joined the Gunners in a €29m move from Sampdoria back in 2018. Despite his 89 appearances for the London side, he spent the last couple of seasons on loans at Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina, with the latter standing as one of the candidates to land him this summer.
