It appears that Arsenal are on the verge of signing David Raya from Brentford, with the Gunners adding extra competition in goal for Aaron Ramsdale.

That’s according to AS, who explained that the Emirates side ‘have agreed’ to the transfer of the Spain international with the Bees for a fee close to £30m.

The goalkeeper only had one year left on his contract with Brentford, which made a deal a bit cheaper than first anticipated, despite claims they were asking for £40m.

Raya had already decided he wouldn’t be staying at Brentford beyond his current contract, and that made life easier for Arsenal.

The Emirates residents have been trying to improve their squad across the board after a successful 2022-23 season that saw them return to the Champions League and narrowly miss out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.

Only a late collapse meant they missed out on silverware, but with money to spend and a determined Arteta at the helm, Arsenal have gone all out this summer, and that included adding a bit more competition for Ramsdale, which they’ve found in Raya.
