Over the weekend, Aston Villa were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton in a game at Goodison Park where two goals were disallowed by VAR.

One of those came from a corner for the Villans, where an offside was called despite Clément Lenglet pushing his opponent to the floor to try and keep his teammates onside.

The subsequent goal by Alex Moreno was ruled out, leaving the two teams without a goal at the end of the 90 minutes, and there are some in Sweden, mostly Freddie Ljungberg, who were angry at the French defender for his tactic, as relayed by Aftonbladet.

Speaking on Viaplay, he said: “I get angry when I see it. Surely no one can say that it’s not a free kick. He doesn’t look at the ball. Just tries to hold the player.”

It’s then recalled that Aston Villa did something similar against Manchester United, when they placed one of their players to ‘interfere’ with André Onana.

Ljungberg added: “I completely understand that Villa and the manager are challenging this, but I’m a bit tired of it. It’s almost every game. How far can we go?”

The draw left Aston Villa a bit more off the race for the title, as they sit just two point behind Liverpool, who do have a game in hand.

As for Everton, a win would have been far more helpful in their bid to avoid relegation, as they are just one point ahead of 18th placed Luton Town after 21 games, who themselves have yet to play their 21st game.
