Alan Pardew has insisted he does not regret his dancing on the touchline in the FA Cup final during his time as Crystal Palace manager.

The boss, who has never been one to shy away from controversy during his time, was famously captured dancing on the touchline to the camera during Crystal Palace’s FA Cup final defeat to Manchester United.

The then Eagles boss danced in celebration on the touchline after Jason Puncheon handed Crystal Palace a shock lead in the 78th minute.

However, his joy soon turned to despair as Juan Mata levelled the scores before securing the winner for Manchester United not long after.

It left Pardew red-faced and facing both criticism and ridicule for the dance, something he still endures to this day, four years after the incident, with the video having been turned into numerous memes and other viral content.

Now managing ADO Den Haag in the Netherlands, he sat down for an interview with Voetbal International and, naturally, the subject came up. Rather than showing regret, though, Pardew stuck by his guns over the incident.

“I could have won the FA Cup three times; once as a player, twice as a manager,” he told the newspaper.

“Three years ago I got another chance, with Palace against Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United.

“We went 1-0 up, no problem, I was happy to do that dance, until we forgot to foul Wayne Rooney…

“1-1 and the game fell out of our hands. Normally it’s three times the charm, but not for me.”
