Thiago Silva has been one of the standout players in Chelsea’s defence since he arrived at Stamford Bridge on a free transfer in 2020.

After playing a vital role in helping the Blues win the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup last year, the centre-back was offered a new deal in January. His current contract at the west London club expires in 2023.

Despite having more than a year left on his contract, reports in Italy have talked about the possibility of the 37-year-old joining Napoli in the next window.

Tommy Esposito is the producer of Calcio, Amore e Fantasia, broadcast on Piuenne.

He went on-air to claim that he has found out the Brazilian has asked Jorginho about the Naples club. The Chelsea midfielder spent time with the Serie A side before arriving in the English capital, and Esposito’s claims are relayed by Area Napoli.

Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio also appeared on the show, and he not only disagreed with Esposito’s claims, but also dismissed the possibility of Silva joining Luciano Spalletti’s side in the summer.

“Thiago Silva to Napoli? Knowing certain mechanisms within the club, I would rule it out,” Di Marzio said, as quoted by Area Napoli.

“Usually, the president De Laurentiis does not take players of a certain age, it would seem strange even considering the limits of salary given that the Brazilian does not take little [salary].”
