Last weekend, Argentine outlet TyC Sports had strong claims regarding the future of Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister, saying there was a done deal for him to join Liverpool.

Their report sounded very sure about that, revealing the Reds would be paying around €70m for the transfer.

Now Liverpool may indeed be leading this race for Mac Allister, but TyC Sports journalist German Garcia Grova takes it easy when speaking of the Brighton midfielder today.

On Twitter, the reporter writes that the player will have a meeting with the Seagulls in the ‘coming hours’.

Mac Allister’s agents are set to speak to Brighton’s chiefs and put the offers they have ‘on the table’.

Grova insists that Liverpool’s bid is the ‘firmest and most advanced’, but that still sounds like there may be other options to be presented.

It seems clear that the Reds are the strongest side in this pursuit and probably even fair to say they’re close to an agreement, but it’s interesting to see an important journalist taking a step back following those claims about a done deal.

Maybe TyC Sports’ first report was just a little too quick, and Liverpool are still working on final details to get this signing done.
