The agent of Sassuolo forward Grégoire Defrel has told the Italian media he’s not ruled out a move for his client in the next transfer window. The Frenchman has impressed for the Serie A side this season, and has been linked with a move to West Ham United this week.
Speaking to Calciomercato, Giampiero Pocetta was asked about the future of Defrel following links with clubs including West Ham. Pocetta confirmed clubs are tracking the 24-year-old, and even though he doesn’t expect him to move next month, he’s not ruled it out. Defrel’s agent said you can’t rule anything out in the transfer market, but believes the attacker will remain with Sassuolo at least until the summer.
“I’ve recorded many surveys but I will not name names. I think it’s very unlikely he will change teams as early as January, then of course anything can happen in the market. but I think you’d expect him to stay until June,” said Defrel’s agent.
Yesterday it was claimed in Italy West Ham will look to move in on Defrel as Hammers boss Slaven Bilic looks to strengthen his attacking options in the next transfer window. With Simone Zaza proving to be a flop following his move from Juventus in the summer Bilic is hoping to sign Defrel.
However, West Ham will face competition from AS Roma and Marseille to sign the Sassuolo star, but the East London side are reported to be in pole position at this stage to land the player.
