Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has already chosen his next destination, according to claims from Brazil today.

The 37-year-old, whose contract with Pep Guardiola’s side expires this summer, is now set to leave the club as a free agent and return to his home country.

Journalist Jorge Nicola today features a video reporting two Brazilian clubs, one from the state of São Paulo and another from Rio Grande do Sul, recently got in touch to find out their chances of signing the player.

Fernandinho’s agent, however, told both sides that he’s decided to return to Athletico Paranaense, the only club he played for in Brazil. So ‘in the Brazilian market,’ his move to the Furacão is given as ‘certain’.

Jorge Nicola claims he got in touch with an Athletico official, who didn’t want to say anything, so he wouldn’t ‘expose’ the player before the end of the Premier League season.

The journalist adds that Brazilian clubs can sign players from the 18th of July, and that’s why Fernandinho’s return to the club ‘already has a date set’.
