Despite spending nearly €12m to sign Julio Enciso from Paraguayan side Libertad this summer, Brighton & Hove Albion are still to give their youngster his debut for the club.

The Seagulls haven’t even been taking the winger to their first Premier League clashes, as he’s currently featuring for the U-21 squad while he gets more experience in English football.

Since there’s been a big expectation about the player’s first steps at Brighton, the Paraguayan media has been wondering about it.

So as Enciso’s agent Pedro Aldave had a chat today with the local press, he explained what is going on at the club.

Interviewed by Nacion Media (via Versus), the official explained that the Seagulls intend to give the youngster more minutes at their youth ranks before letting him debut for the first team.

“I see Julio quite well. He’s a player with international projection, luckily he fulfilled himself and is already in the Premier League, which for me is the most difficult and hardest in the world,” said Aldave.

“He’s making the adaptation, he showed what he can do in the preseason. He was not called up in the three games they have played, because the team has been playing well.”

“Julio must be patient, there are players who are starters, who have been without activity for a year, but I don’t think that is Julio’s future, because of his talent.”

Aldave also spoke about the transfer, which was quite huge for Paraguayan football.

“A whole record was broken, because Julio did a great job in the final stretch, Libertad defended the price and they paid what it was worth.

“Luckily, there was a club that put up the money, which was a record. This is a precedent so that when a player appears here, he defends himself, he does not sell himself to the first league to the first bidder.”

Enciso made two appearances for Brighton’s U-21 in Premier League 2 so far, and even scored a goal in the match against Liverpool.

Now he must impress Graham Potter to get a chance in the first team.
