Despite an initial reluctance to sign for Nottingham Forest because it meant he would be shipped out to Olympiakos, also owned by Evangelos Marinakis, Hwang Ui-jo has changed his mind.

This news comes from L’Equipe in France, who state the South Korean forward ‘would have finally accepted the idea’ of the transfer, seeing him move to City Ground before being shipped out to Greece.

In dire need of selling some players, Bordeaux have been trying to find their striker a new club, and while offers haven’t been lacking for the 29-year-old, he has taken his time over his next move.

However, after talking with his compatriot Hwang In-beon, Hwang Ui-jo would now be ‘inclined to accept’ the move to Greece on loan.

In fact, a source close to the affair told the move to Nottingham Forest is ‘basically done’, with the Ligue 2 side set to receive €4m with €1m in bonuses.

Despite interest from France, where Nantes and Brest were reportedly keen, Hwang Ui-jo has always favoured a move to the Premier League above all.

While he will have to make a small detour via Olympiakos before getting his chance, this seemed like the best option for him, with Nottingham Forest clearly hoping to reap the benefits in the long run.
