Earlier this month, we covered claims from Spain that Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Two days ago, Marca reported the Magpies have made contact over a potential deal. Later that day, journalist Nacho Sanchis said Eddie Howe’s side have ‘taken a real step’ to sign the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window.
El Desmarque now say his displays have seen several English clubs ‘line up’ for his signature, and Newcastle seem to be the ‘most interested’ team among them. The stopper is also being watched by Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
The goalkeeper’s current deal lasts until 2027 and the report claims his asking price, which was €25m last summer, has now increased, without providing any figures.
Newcastle are keen on signing him and El Desmarque say there could be movement in the Mamardashvili case in the summer.
On Thursday, Los Ches suffered a 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad and prior to the tie, DAZN had a chat with Valencia technical director Miguel Ángel Corona. With claims stating that Mamardashvili could leave in the next window, the director was asked about his future.
“We are very satisfied and very happy that our players are so named and so followed around the world. We will act normally in the market and see what happens,” he is quoted as saying.
