‘Everyone wants Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’ believe Italy’s SportMediaset and they’re not wrong to claim there’s widespread interest in the Lazio midfielder.

Savic has been linked with most of Europe’s top clubs in recent months, with claims of potential transfer fees ranging anywhere from €100m to the fanciful €200m.

Despite that, approaches with tentative offers have been at a much lower amount. SportMediaset explain clubs don’t realise they’re dealing with Claudio Lotito, who has made Lazio ‘the most expensive shop in Italy’.

Offers so far have been around €70m, with Manchester City one of the clubs named, but Lazio have sent all these attempts back with the same message: He’s not going anywhere for less than €150m.

Manchester City have been linked with a string of midfielders and it would be no surprise if Milinkovic-Savic is a name Pep Guardiola has highlighted, but the price may be rising too high.

Despite spending a lot of money, Manchester City haven’t yet shown a willingness to spend a huge fee on one player.
