Back in November, Mundo Deportivo claimed that Arsenal had made an increased offer for Nabil Fékir, who was also attracting attention from Barcelona, but that’s the last we heard of it.

We speculated there was little chance of Jean-Michel Aulas agreeing to seeing his star player leave midway through the season, and that won’t have changed now that Lyon are tied second in Ligue 1.

However, Le Foot in France put forward another Arsenal suggestion, one that might suit all parties, and would certainly please a certain Alexandre Lacazette.

The French magazine explain Arsene Wenger wants to reunite Fékir with his old partner in crime, but knows he won’t be able to get Lyon to part ways with him before the end of the current campaign.

Therefore, the plan would be to buy him in January and then for Arsenal to loan him back to his current club until the end of the season, and everyone would be happy, with Fékir continuing to shine ahead of a possible spot in Didier Deschamps’ squad for the World Cup.

Le Foot also reveal the fee would be around €50m including bonuses.

We don’t buy it, as it doesn’t seem like something Jean-Michel Aulas, a well known tough negotiator, would do.
