Club Brugge attacker Anthony Limbombe has revealed the chance to play in the Champions League was the reason he turned down moves to other clubs this summer. The 22-year-old was linked with a move to Leeds United after the Championship club tabled two bids for the youngster.
The Belgian went on to say the chance of playing in Europe resulted in him not giving much attention to offers from other clubs.
“I’m glad it’s all behind us. I had other options. I was determined to come to Club Brugge. This is a Belgian club which may take its place in the Champions League, so I really didn’t take interest in the other clubs,” said Limbombe.
Leeds United had been tracking Limbombe for 12 months after they initially failed to land the forward last summer. The Championship side continued to monitor the youngster throughput last season, and hoped to sign him for next season. Lille, Granada and Toulouse were also linked with the player.
