With Alan Pardew now expected by many to be named West Brom’s new manager, the Premier League club may not be too bothered to hear Lille are keen on Oscar Garcia.

Garcia has recently left Saint Etienne, having done a good job at the club, but becoming frustrated with the general planning not going his way. Rather than continue with a project he’d become uncomfortable with, Garcia left ASSE and didn’t take a pay off with him.

On Thursday afternoon, a source said to be close to the manager told France’s Foot Mercato: “Yes, it’s true. That lead (West Brom) exists.”

Up until that point there hadn’t really seemed an awful lot in the West Brom links, and even still it was doubtful whether the Baggies would be brave enough to go for such a big change.

At the time we explained: ‘However, the same source also claims a French club are interested in Garcia, although their name has yet to filter.

The obvious option here would be Lille, who recently ‘momentarily suspended’ Marcelo Bielsa, which is a nice term to say he’s going to be sacked soon.’

Well, Catalan newspaper Sport, who report on Garcia’s situation pretty much daily, say interest in the manager has taken shape at Lille ‘in the past few hours’.

If West Brom interest was real, and remains that way, they may need to hurry.
