Regardless of what Emre Can says publicly about a Liverpool exit, the Italian press will not stop publishing articles about Juventus’ interest in him.

Explaining he loved the club in an interview with the Times, the German midfielder appeared to hint he would be staying at Anfield beyond this season, yet a bad season for the Reds could see him change his mind.

Corriere dello Sport on Thursday relay some of the news already published in England, notably the Daily Mirror’s claim that an offer could come in January, yet they don’t seem all that convinced.

In fact, with the contract situation still not resolved, the Italian newspaper state it is far more likely the Serie A champions approach him at that time in order to complete a free transfer next summer.

Having targeted him for over a year now, they don’t see the point in rushing, especially if they can pull of a great coup.

Desired for his versatility, the 23-year-old would certainly complement the Italian side’s already competitive midfielder, and with Sami Khedira on the wrong side of 30, they’d already have a replacement in situ.

Then again, if a new contract is signed, and a release clause is inserted in it, there’s every chance Juventus could trigger that if Emre Can gets his way and it ends up being reasonable.

So many possibilities, all of them pointing in the direction of the German leaving the club.
