When Yann M’Vila was breaking through with Rennes and France, it seemed only a matter of time before he secured a big transfer.
Linked with Arsenal repatedly, M’Vila was lined up by many to join Arsene Wenger’s side, but things started to unravel.
In 2012, M’Vila, who had already picked up more than 20 France caps, was banned from the national team until June 2014, meaning he’d miss the Brazil World Cup.
With a career starting to lose direction, M’Vila then joined Rubin Kazan, and his career never hit the same heights again. Now 27 years of age, M’Vila has a long contract in Russia, despite having previous problems at the club and going out on two loans.
“Real Madrid and Manchester United,” came the quick reply.
Whilst a Manchester United future wouldn’t have been unthinkable for the player when he was impressing at Rennes, now it’s likely out of the question, and the same would go for Real Madrid.
M’Vila’s career choices have taken him away from the likelihood of such moves, and interest from Old Trafford would be difficult to achieve for the Frenchman.
