Just like the Benfica fans, the Portuguese press has been extremely supportivo to Mile Svilar after the goalkeeper’s mistake against Manchester United in the Champions League.
The Portuguese club’s Facebook page has been full of positive messages for the youngster, while the local papers have been showing that the Eagles have full trust in him, and will not let the incident affect his career there.
Newspaper O Jogo even has a story today in they interviewed Zoran Filipović, member of the Serbia national team staff, who revealed that they want him to play for them in the World Cup, even though the goalkeeper was born in Belgium.
Speaking to the press, Svilar had already revealed: “He just said that I don’t have to worry, continue to work and it will be okay.”
Now O Jogo claims that they learned a few more words said by the Belgian striker to the goalkeeper, which were “cheer up, you have to be positive, you’re at a great club.”
David De Gea would have also said goodbye to the goalkeeper at the Estádio da Luz saying ‘goodbye, crack’.
Crack is a word used in Spanish to describe a truly top player.
