There are only two days left of the end of the transfer window, and William Carvalho’s situation at Sporting continues being the same.
The Lions don’t bend, West Ham don’t raise their offer and each Portuguese newspaper reports different bids.
As we’ve been doing in the past few weeks, we’ll have to cover one by one in this story so you can see how different their information is, despite some agreements here and there.
Let’s start talking about Monaco. Both O Jogo and Record are reporting that the French side are about to make a bid for the player, which would be paid upfront. O Jogo says €35m and Record says €38m. The offer isn’t huge, but the payment method would put them in front of West Ham in the race.
Record adds that West Ham offered €32m + €5m in bonuses, to be paid in two years. But Sporting demanded €20m now and the rest in January, and the Hammers would have to pay for the solidarity mechanism, something they didn’t accept.
Something Correio da Manhã and A Bola both report is that in case Sporting turn down a €35m bid, then they have to pay William €5m compensation, due to a clause is in his contract. This has been mentioned for a year now, but had been forgotten by the local press in the past few months.
Finally, A Bola claims West Ham are preparing their ‘final attempt’ for the midfielder. The club already made a €32m bid and are set to make a new one. The problem is it still won’t get to the €38m demanded by Sporting, and as Slaven Bilic already said Carvalho is the only player they want to sign, the Lisbon side have this argument as an advantage in the negotiations.
