Brendan Rodgers has given his nod to an Erik Sviatchenko, report Denmark’s Ekstra Bladet, and now it’s just a question of where the defender will end up.
Runaway favourite right now is FC Copenhagen, but finances will certainly prove an issue. FC Brondby are also credited with interest in the Celtic player, but Ekstra Bladet say as soon as the club learned of the likely cost and wage demands, they backed away… it’s only within the reach of FCK in Denmark.
FCK are willing to ‘fight’ say Ekstra Bladet, but it will all come down to agreeing a deal with Celtic. If and when that happens, Sviatchenko himself will be set for a wage cut on his return to Denmark.
Although the 25 year old would be in the highest bracket at FCK, it’s still unlikely to be very close to the wages on offer at Celtic Park.
Sviatchenko was this week spotted at Copenhagen airport, which led to FCK having to deny the transfer from Celtic is imminent. But there’s no denial of interest, and this is one the Danish club would love to get done before the deadline.
With the defender out of Rodgers’ plans at Celtic, according to Ekstra Bladet, the rush is on to find a new destination.
