It seems Juan Foyth is not the only target who Tottenham Hotspur have given up in the past few days.

According to Jornal de Notícias, Tottenham are no longer interested in Adrien Silva, who they’ve been linked with for the past few months.

The newspaper gives much attention to the player’s situation today, saying that Inter Milan, Leicester City, and West Brom are all interested in him.

But they still mention Tottenham’s interest, and their claims make more sense than they have previously.

It’s stated Mauricio Pochettino spoke to the London club’s board and said they need a younger target instead.

Considering the manager’s philosophy and that Silva is already 28, that’s definitely a situation we could see happening.

But why would Tottenham make contact for the player in the first place? Maybe they were interested, but Sporting are hard negotiators, and Pochettino may have thought a 28-year-old isn’t worth all the money. Which, in this case, would be €30m.

Or perhaps, Tottenham interest, or ‘alleged’ interest, was part of the Adrien Silva marketing campaign.
