Is James Rodriguez a Manchester United target? Depending on the country you get your news from, the answer to that question may differ.
Some say he really is, and José Mourinho would love him at Old Trafford, while others believe he’s just one of a few players Real Madrid could do without and the inevitable link with the Red Devils was always bound to happen because Jorge Mendes.
This news comes amid other information from the French radio station that the recently crowned Champions League winners are preparing a third bid, believed to be around €135m, for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappé.
Real Madrid are said to be wanting around €70m from Manchester United for James Rodriguez, a fee few believe the player is currently worth.
If it were to go through, and the Spanish giants were also able to sell Alvaro Morata for €60-70m to the highest bidder, the combined fees would pay for Mbappé’s transfer.
It all makes sense, doesn’t it? Except that the French prodigy would like to stay at Monaco an extra year, which is also his club’s wish.
On top of the club represented by Ed Woodward, Inter Milan are said to be in talks with Real Madrid for James as well, yet you feel that if it came purely to financial details, Manchester United would come out on top.
€70m seems a lot for a player who only started 20 games last season, and we very much doubt United would be willing to pay that.
