There’s no doubt Vincent Janssen’s first Tottenham season hasn’t gone the way he would have hoped. Arriving from the Eredivisie with big hopes attached, Janssen can’t say he’s not had chances, but he’s failed to make a big impact.
It’s not been a complete disaster, 6 goals and 2 assists shows some level of contribution, even if the Dutchman has been helped by penalties. Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be disappointed, but turfing Janssen out probably isn’t on the agenda right now.
Whilst Janssen made a point of saying he’s contracted to return to Tottenham for next season, he didn’t rule out considering his future, saying: “That is a matter for after the holidays. I want the prospect of more playing time, but otherwise I’m now better keeping my mouth shut.”
Quizzed on the Eredivisie, Janssen said: “I cannot say anything about that either. I keep all options open.”
The comments are already spreading around the Dutch media, with Soccer News suggesting Janssen’s words could attract the interest of Ajax, Feyenoord, and PSV.
