Sandro Wagner isn’t one to shy away from football’s big finances, saying last year he believes, if anything, footballers don’t get paid enough. Given that, it was perhaps a surprise when earlier this he turned down a big money move to China, or was at least reported to have done.
Bild say: ‘Now things are getting hotter: West Ham and Swansea City want to sign the 1.94-metre striker.’
With 12 goals and 2 assists for Hoffenheim this season, West Ham and Swansea interest is perhaps understandable. But both clubs have similar profile players.
Andy Carroll and Fernando Llorente are both in a similar category to Wagner, and whilst there have been serious and repeated rumours about Llorente’s future, the same can’t be said for the West Ham striker. There’s been a weak, and perhaps inevitable, Newcastle United link, but nothing overly concrete.
Bild approached Wagner for comment, and he told them: “This topic is annoying, I’ve already said everything.”
The German newspaper don’t take that as a show of commitment to current club Hoffenheim.
