Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci has told the Italian media it’s not his say whether Empoli fans have made peace with the team.
The 28-year-old is currently on loan with the Serie A side, and Empoli players have come in for flak from their own supporters this season.
The Leeds United player said he didn’t want to comment on this, but believes they did try to deal with the situation by going over to the fans after the game with Bologna, something he’ll be happy he didn’t have to do at Elland Road. Bellusci thinks there should be unity at the club, so that the players and fans don’t clash anymore.
“I’m just a player, I cannot say. At the end of the match we decided to go and greet the fans who came over first. We should be all one family, so there is something for anyone,” said the Leeds United loanee.
Earlier in the season it was reported Bellusci faced up to Empoli supporters when walking off the pitch after the player was abused. Following the Genoa game there were also claims of fans wanting to confront the Empoli players in the tunnel and outside their changing room.
Despite these problems it’s expected the player will join Empoli from Leeds United on a permanent deal in the summer. It’s been claimed Empoli can sign the Leeds United outcast for €2m on the condition they remain in Serie A.
