On Monday, reports emerged in Italy that Inter Milan were closing in on the signing of Manchester United’s Sergio Romero as a backup to their current goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
Mediaset Premium were the ones getting the ball rolling by claiming Romero had bought a house in Milan, while TMW said a two-year deal was on the table for the 30-year-old.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport don’t think that’s the case, with the Italian newspaper reporting on Tuesday that Inter Milan prefer Torino’s Daniele Padelli for the role.
The 31-year-old Italian has spent the vast majority of the season on the bench watching Joe Hart, making only four appearances in all competitions.
With a contract running out in 2017, he would also be a free option for the Serie A side, while Sergio Romero would not.
Let’s not jump the gun just yet.
