Earlier on Thursday, we relayed a couple of stories from Spain regarding the future of Jesus Navas at the Etihad.
The Manchester City winger is out of contract with the Premier League club at the end of the season, and, with no extension in sight, is likely to leave on a free in the summer.
However, that doesn’t appear to be a problem in Italy if Il Messaggero are to be believed, as AS Roma, who are on the verge of announcing Monchi as their new director of football, have already offered him a three-year deal.
Furthermore, Corriere dello Sport, also running with the Navas-Roma-Monchi triangle + three-year deal story, explain the soon-to-be former Sevilla director of football recently met with the City forward in Manchester to discuss the possible move.
While a return to his former club is probably something Navas would prefer, the Monchi factor certainly plays into Roma’s favour, with the director of football pretty much revered by all current and former Sevilla players.
As things stand, we are likely to see a Roma-Sevilla battle for the Manchester City winger.
There’s still a fair bit of time left before the 30th of June, however, and we wouldn’t be surprised if another club or two decided to join the party at some point in the near future.
