Manchester United’s Álvaro Fernández is edging closer towards completing a loan move to Benfica, according to multiple reports.
The Red Devils sent the left-back on loan to Granada and ‘Manchester United have activated the clause’ to cut short his temporary stay at the La Liga side.
That’s according to Rádio Renascença, who add the Manchester United owned player has arrived in Lisbon to complete a move to Benfica.
It’s claimed the 20-year-old will undergo medical tests with the Eagles today and then sign the contract with his new club. Benfica will sign the Spaniard on a loan deal with an option to buy.
A Bola also have a report on the Spaniard and they state the Portuguese club want to finalise his transfer today. He will join Roger Schmidt’s side on a loan deal with a purchase option set at €6m.
The Lisbon-based club are optimistic these details will be sorted out soon as they are aiming to present Fernández later today.
Another Portuguese newspaper, Record, says the player has already said goodbye [as per his social media post] to Granada and will be a new Benfica player soon. They add the operation should be made official between today and tomorrow.
O Jogo, on the other hand, state Fernández ‘awaits’ sealing a move to the Portuguese club. The seem confident he should be presented as a new Eagles player today.
