Another day, another raft of Paul Pogba claims. Every window there’s reports of Manchester United getting a bid ready, agreeing terms with the player’s agent and a deal being possible, but it’s not happened yet.
This time things have felt a little different. That’s largely thanks to Mino Raiola becoming close to Manchester Untied. Already having Sergio Romero at the Premier League club, Raiola this summer brokered deals for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to join him.
L’Equipe said he fancied a Manchester United move, and there have been strong claims that he’s already agreed a salary package with the club. If those claims are true then there’s little reason a deal won’t happen.
However, if there’s some elastic there then there’s doubt.
On the brighter side, Spain’s El Confidencial sound doubtful on Tuesday about Real Madrid making a move. It’s explained that whilst Zinedine Zidane has always been convinced on a deal, Florentino Perez hasn’t.
Pogba not taking Euro 2016 by storm has done little to change that, and El Confidencial say Zizou has ‘failed to convince’ his boss that parting with a sea of a money is a good idea.
Raiola is set to meet Pogba today, with the pair discussing the player’s future. Manchester United will quite obviously be on the agenda.
