Leicester City’s disastrous season in the Premier League isn’t really something that gives confidence to their opponents in the Champions League.
The Foxes have impressed by qualifying in first place of Group G, something that will certainly make Sevilla more careful when facing them for the round-of-16 this Wednesday.
Manager Jorge Sampaoli has given a press conference on Tuesday and mentioned the difference between the two competitions.
“Our best defence will be linked to our attack and possession of the ball. If we exchange blows with a team that surpasses us in that, we are surely going to suffer”.
The Chilean boss claims his team must be careful with Leicester City’s firepower, and remembers one of the most remarkable results of the title winning season: “The most important thing that we have is our performance, it would allow us to dream of passing against an opponent who has skills to clearly damage us, their attacks are quick, with a lot of verticality, able to score four goals against City”.
Sampaoli also made comments on Jamie Vardy’s recent form, saying the striker could still find his form from last season.
“Last year he was a key to the success of the team, this year the absence of his goals makes the team suffer and is noticed. When finding the goal, he will surely make Leicester a dangerous team”.
Sevilla and Leicester City are playing the first leg at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on Wednesday, while the second leg will be hosted at the King Power Stadium on March 14.
