The fact that Christian Eriksen has made it to Voetbal International’s team of the week became a reason for lots of praises for the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.

The comments were made due to the player’s great performance against Fulham for the FA Cup. He was the only Premier League player to be selected, as even Harry Kane, who scored a hat-trick, was left out.

While explaining the picks, journalist Süleyman Öztürk said: “Eriksen has developed from an Eredivisie player into a Barcelona midfielder. He is complete, has everything and is all set for the absolute top. He may have outgrown Tottenham Hotspur.

“That’s a nice development and proof that you can make the step from the Eredivisie as a relatively small midfielder to the Premier League.”

The Dutch press keep following Eriksen’s development closely due to his time at Ajax, where he spent almost five years before attracting the interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

By being one of Europe’s young talents, Eriksen has obviously been linked to a Barcelona move in the past few years, but things never seemed to be more than speculation.

At the start of the season, the player signed a new contract with Spurs, which means he’s now commited to the club until 2020, and means he would cost any interested team a lot of money.
