Daniele Sebastiani is set to step down as the Pescara president after two of his cars were recently burnt out. The Serie A side look set to be relegated from the top flight of Italian football, and Sebastiani’s situation has been compared in the Italian media to that of Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino.
With Pescara bottom of Serie A the club’s leaders have come in for flak in recent weeks, with claims even bullets in envelopes have been sent. There have also been reports that Pescara players have received threats from disgruntled fans because of their performances.
Sebastiani isn’t the only Italian club president to receive such treatment after what Cellino experienced at Cagliari a few years ago. The controversial Leeds United chief also came in for threats from his own fans for the way he was running the Cagliari, which ultimately resulted in the Italian moving to Miami.
Cellino would eventually sell the Sardinian club when he purchased Leeds United in 2014. However, since Cellino arrived at Leeds United he’s faced the wrath from the Elland Road faithful, which resulted in protests against him last season.
