Leicester City have been told they are signing ‘the next Kevin de Bruyne’ if they can get a deal for Charles de Ketelaere over the line.

De Ketelaere is one of the hottest prospects in Europe after establishing himself as a rising star with Club Brugge over the last few seasons.

He’s been linked with a big move away this summer, and Leicester are known to be among his biggest admirers.

They have been linked since the turn of the year, with barely a month going by in which they aren’t believed to be considering a bid for him.

Indeed, it has been suggested they are in ‘pole position’ to secure his signature and yesterday saw a report from Gazzetta Dello Sport stating they are ready to outbid AC Milan for the 21-year-old.

Where he ends up remains to be seen, but Belgian journalist Alexandre Braeckman has insisted any deal would be a good one for Leicester, as De Ketelaere as a bright future in front of him.

“To be honest with you, I think De Ketelaere could become the next De Bruyne,” he told Pianeta Milan.

“His game vision is brilliant; he is fast, technically interesting, he can score quite easily. He can play behind a striker, but he can also be employed as a false nine or a striker.

“His vision in making assists is incredible. De Bruyne looks after him in the national team; I think he knows what he can do.

“De Ketelaere is a really incredible talent, an intelligent guy, also very professional. He has the mentality and the ability to become a world-class player. Milan would be a big step forward for him.”
