Tottenham ‘have turned’ to Kalidou Koulibaly’s agents to ‘start talks’ about a potential move this summer.
That’s according to Sport, who say Antonio Conte’s side could rival Barcelona for the Napoli star.
The newspaper reports that Koulibaly has made it clear to the Serie A side that he wants to leave this summer, and fortunately for him, they are willing to sanction it.
That’s partly due to his good relationship with the club but more Napoli’s desire to secure a fee this summer rather than lose him for free next year when his contract comes to an end.
They’re not the only suitors, though, and Chelsea, Tottenham and Juventus have also been approached for talks. They, though, are behind Barcelona in the defender’s thinking.
The Catalans can’t make a move due to their perilous financial situation, but they do want a top-class centre back, and Koulibaly’s asking price ‘could be around €35m’.
Napoli’s willingness to sell is key to any deal happening as they have often refused to even negotiate in the past.
However, it’s becoming clear to them and president Aurelio de Laurentiis that they will be forced to sell this summer, giving Tottenham the chance to get their man.
