Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has admitted it was a ‘surprise’ to make his Premier League debut earlier this year, and it’s been a dream ever since.
Caicedo joined Brighton in a £4.5m deal from Independiente in Ecuador in February last year, moving to the south coast in the summer.
He was immediately shipped out to Beerschot in Belgium, but after impressing in the Jupiler League, Brighton elected to bring him back to the club in January.
Caicedo spent the first few months following his return sat on the bench but was handed his Brighton debut in the 2-1 win over Arsenal back in April and hasn’t looked back.
That’s something that has delighted the Ecuadorian, who is keen to thank teammate Jeremy Sarmiento for helping him to adapt.
“My debut in the Premier League against Arsenal was a surprise,” Bolavip report him saying.
“Going to Belgium helped me to gain minutes and experience, to get into a rhythm and continue in the national team.
“Scoring a goal against Manchester United was a dream for me. God helped me to fulfil that dream.
“My family has been fundamental, and also Jeremy Sarmiento has helped me a lot to adapt. He has helped me to feel better.”
“I dream of making history in the Qatar 2022 World Cup with Ecuador. Not only to pass a phase, but to continue; we just have to believe and work to fulfil our dream. We are working hard in our clubs to leave Ecuador’s name high at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.”
