Timothy Castagne is currently out with injury, which it would be assumed could kill any talk of a January transfer, however, it would appear Inter Milan haven’t got the memo.
FCInterNews report the Italian champions are keen on signing the Belgian before the end of the winter market, with his current fitness status not even getting a mention.
Simone Inzaghi, Inter’s manager, is said to be specifically keen on signing the Foxes man, having wanted to take him to Lazio three years ago. Castagne knows Italian football well, having done well with Atalanta, and it’s thought he could fit in with Inzaghi’s way of seeing football.
The Serie A side would want a loan until the end of the season, with no financial outlay other than covering the player’s wages.
Leicester City, on the other hand, are said to want a loan with a redemption obligation, meaning Inter would have to make the transfer permanent in the summer.
Unless the Premier League side accept a loan with a buying option, rather than obligation, then it’s made clear this one won’t be happening. Still, the whole thing seems a little strange given Castagne has been a used part of Brendan Rodgers’ squad and is currently injured.
