Chelsea were one of the many clubs who sent scouts to the Estádio da Luz last night, as the home team Benfica beat Rio Ave 2-0 in the Portuguese League.

Although representatives of English clubs are frequently seen in Portugal, Chelsea aren’t always among them.

CapturarChelsea haven’t really been linked to any Benfica player lately. The last one was Victor Lindelof, who according to the Portuguese papers, is going to Manchester United in a €45m deal.

What the Blues certainly couldn’t miss was Pizzi’s superb performance. An assist, an outstanding goal and a red card. With eight goals and eight assists this season, the Spaniard is turning out to be one of Benfica’s most important players in the title race.

Midfielder Ljubomir Fejsa and the attackers Gonçalo Guedes and Konstantinos Mitroglou, with the latter scoring the opening goal, all had good performances too, getting a ‘7’ rating from O Jogo.

Scouts from Arsenal, Manchester United, Fulham, Celtic, Bayer Leverkusen, Koln, Auxerre, Montpellier, Lorient, Saint-Étienne, Eibar, Belenenses and Academica all attended the game as well.
