Very little remains to be said about Falcao’s time in the Premier League.
The Colombian striker, who has found his shooting boots once again having returned to Monaco this season, made the strange decision to give the Premier League a go following a serious knee injury, and two years at Manchester United and Chelsea achieved very little.
While he was used by Louis Van Gaal quite a bit, his time under José Mourinho at Stamford Bridge will be on he will want to forget altogether, making 12 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal.
Despite not playing regularly, and knowing that would be the case, Falcao remained extremely professional at Chelsea, as explained by then goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon to Le Journal du Dimanche.
He said: “Even in his darkest hours, he kept a remarkable attitude. I thanked him because, in training, he insisted on doing more with match intensity, even if he knew he wouldn’t be playing. He helped our goalkeepers improve. Seeing him fight like that, I knew he’d fall on his feet somewhere.”
Having left Chelsea and returned to Ligue 1, the player has taken the league by storm, scoring a goal every 67 minutes, which totals to 10 in 12 appearances, or a goal every 75 minutes in all competitions, taking his tally to 14 in 17 games.
Now one of the most feared goalscorers in France, and maybe even Europe considering how well Monaco are doing in the Champions League, El Tigre is enjoying life again, and while many players could have moped at their Chelsea situation, it seems his attitude has a lot to do with his resurgence.
