Steven N’Zonzi is a regular in the rumour mill now, and his good form for Sevilla means there’s likely to be genuine interest from several clubs. Estadio Deportivo, the local Seville sport newspaper, pick up Italian claims of Manchester City interest on Monday, but it’s what they say about Leicester City which is more interesting.

Such was Claudio Ranieri’s desire to sign the former Stoke City player during the summer window, that N’Zonzi was offered ‘€4m net per season’ to sign for Leicester City. At that point N’Zonzi was happy to remain with Sevilla, but if a club comes in which captures his attention then the Spanish club have a problem.

Pep Guardiola could easily convince Manchester City to part with the €30m it would take to match N’Zonzi’s release clause. If the level of interest is true, and Juventus are also being heavily linked, it would appear Leicester’s chance has now gone.

Estadio Deportivo report, and it may be through hope rather than expectation, that N’Zonzi would likely reject a winter move because he wants to remain loyal to Sevilla.

The newspaper believe that on current form, N’Zonzi is one of the best midfielders in Europe.

That €30m clause may well be tested next month.
