Following the initial reports from England, the Brazilian media now confirms that FIFA attended to CBF’s request and is punishing clubs who didn’t release their players for international games.
That means Chelsea, Leeds United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Zenit are forbidden from using their Brazilian players between the 10th and 14th of September.
There’s only one exception in this case, which is Everton, and outlet Globo Esporte explains why the Toffees are still able to use Richarlison in that period.
According to their story, FIFA only acts when requested. So CBF’s attitude was towards all the clubs apart from the Goodison Park side, and that was because of the ‘good relationship’ between them.
Globo Esporte says Everton weren’t obligated to let Richarlison play at the Olympics, and since they released him at that time, there’s friendly relations with the Brazilian FA.
So even though the 24-year-old seemed angry for not featuring for Brazil in the international break, it seems the Toffees will end up in a better situation than expected.
This had already been stated last week in Brazil, and it would be apparent they’ve gone through with the plan.
