On Monday night, Corinthians dedicated website Meu Timão once again reported that Newcastle United were in talks for the signing of midfielder Ederson.
The rumour had already been published by the Brazilian media in early August, and the new claims said the Magpies had now been in ‘direct contact’ for the move.
Ederson has been on loan at Fortaleza, and according to local claims today, the talks didn’t exist.
Journalist Mario Kempes writes on his blog that Fortaleza and the player did not receive any offer or any information about the move.
Like we said, Meu Timão is a Corinthians dedicated website. So perhaps the Magpies got in touch with his parent club and the talks did not advance for there.
Especially because, according to those claims, the contacts took place in the final hours of the transfer window. So besides all the usual time it’d take to complete the transfer, his current loan would certainly be an issue as well.
