Julian Draxler has been repeatedly linked with a move to Arsenal, even before he moved to Wolfsburg from Schalke, with Arsene Wenger credited with interest. At times Draxler has looked like a difficult signing, with Wolfsburg wanting to play a medium term money game.
Things have changed now, with Wolfsburg’s recently departed director of sport Klaus Allofs admitting the Bundesliga side are prepared to listen to offers for Draxler.
Le Parisien say Draxler’s price tag has dropped from €75m to €30m, and the player has been forced to train alone at the club. Juventus are also keen on the 23-year-old, but Paris-Saint Germain have been in contact with his representatives since the summer.
While it remains to be seen if Arsenal would be willing to do business in January, Draxler is certainly close to leaving Wolfsburg and for an attractive price for any buying club. Arsenal are mentioned in Le Parisien’s report, but the group trio of Wenger’s side, Juve and PSG seem to be trotted out repeatedly because there’s really nothing new.
PSG look the likeliest destination, but that’s mainly because they seem to be the only ones with any sort of interest right now. Juventus could be keen too, but would look to knock Wolfsburg down even further on price.
Draxler hasn’t registered a goal or an assist for Wolfsburg this season, and whilst there’s little doubt over his actual talent, he’d be fortunate if Wenger swooped in and secured a deal for Arsenal.
