This weekend, when speaking to the Brazilian media, Emerson Palmieri talked about the chances of leaving Chelsea for a new club this summer.

The left-back made it clear that he wants to have as much playing time as possible, and said he’ll analyse the options he has before taking a decision on his future.

Now even though he’d mostly been linked with a return to Italy, we now see that a French club have been engaged in talks for his signing as well.

L’Equipe writes that Lyon have been working on the signing ‘for several weeks’. Emerson Palmieri is seen as an ‘affordable’ option for the club, as they couldn’t get Layvin Kurzawa from Paris Saint Germain.

It’s said the Chelsea player could arrive on loan with an obligatory buying option, since Lyon can’t pay for the permanent move this summer.

L’Equipe adds that Lyon gave up on signing Atletico Madrid’s Renan Lodi and Manchester United’s Alex Telles. Regarding the player from the Red Devils, it’s said the Premier League club ‘refused to give up’, and forced the French side to back off.
