Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Rui Patricio will join Roma after the European Championships.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say the Portuguese keeper’ will join Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka as Jose Mourinho’s first signings at the club.
Patricio has been linked with a move to the Italian side for the past few weeks, with him apparently telling Wolves he wants the move.
Mourinho is keen to bring him to Italy as he searches for a new number one for his side, believing Patricio’s experience will be crucial moving forwards.
According to their information, Patricio has already agreed on a three-year deal with Roma, with those terms negotiated ‘under the direction’ of Jorge Mendes.
Wolves are already on the hunt for a replacement and have an agreement in place with Roma for a ‘reasonable price’ – €7m fixed, rising to €10m with bonuses.
Mourinho is said to believe Patricio is ‘very reliable’ and one of the most valuable players in the current Portugal set-up.
It is that which has led to the move, with Roma now closing in on him and Xhaka, as their Mourinho rebuild gets underway.
