You don’t need to be a genius to work out Mamadou Sakho’s days at Liverpool are numbered. This season, he hasn’t had a single first team minute so far under Jurgen Klopp, and it looks like Liverpool’s Frenchman finally accepts defeat in the battle to save his Liverpool career.
Galatasaray are struggling defensively so far this season and Sakho could be the one who can solve that. With Aurelien Chedjou heading to AFCON and new boy Serdar Aziz having trouble with a series of injuries, and Hakan Balta now 33 years old… Galatasaray will need a new centre-back.
From a Turkish perspective it makes sense and the story is growing in the country’s media. Gala could pay Sakho good wages and give him the chance to move to another huge club and compete in Europe, a move which helps the player save face.
From Jurgen Klopp’s perspective it would be a chance to rid himself of the Sakho problem, and Liverpool should be able to get a reasonable transfer fee.
