It’s been a while since Inter Milan started getting linked to Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, with an obvious influence of former Blues manager Antonio Conte in this chase.
Now some reports from Italy suggest that there’s been an agreement for the 29-year-old to leave the Stamford Bridge for Italy.
Journalist Maurizio Pistocchi has interviewed today by website Passione Inter, and claimed that Antonio Conte had done his job on the signing, but couldn’t get the proper backup from the Nerazzurri.
“Conte had closed some personal negotiations with Kanté, and was willing to come to Inter. He had identified him as the perfect player to win”, Maurizio Pistocchi told Passione Inter.
“They failed to get rid of the redundancies that remained in Milan like Nainggolan or Vecino. He was annoyed about this. Now he’s understood that he cannot expect the company to make economic sacrifices but has given indications for the January market.”
Following Antonio Conte’s arrival at Chelsea in the summer of 2016, N’Golo Kante joined him right away on a €36m move from Leicester City. They won the Premier League title in their first season with the Blues.
This season, Inter Milan continue in the hunt for the Serie A title. After 10 fixtures, they’re in second place, five points behind city rivals Milan.
It isn’t said how much Chelsea would demand or what Inter Milan’s offer for the midfielder was yet. His contract with the Blues runs until 2023.
