Here’s a story which may scare Southampton fans on deadline day, although things don’t seem to be hot enough to make it happen now.
Italian website Tutto Mercato Web writes today that Barcelona and Parma are both interested in Saints’ wonderkid Alexandre Jankewitz.
Their report is of course mostly focused on the Serie A side. It’s said the club are ‘one of the most active’ in the summer market and they now target the 18-year-old.
Regarding Barcelona, it’s reported the Catalan side’s scouting staff have been following the midfielder for a while, and could compete with Parma for the signing.
However, Tutto Mercato Web also says that in case Parma go for Jankewitz, then that’d only be something for the January market. As they don’t have many details on Barcelona’s efforts, that sounds like interest for the future as well.
Jankewitz was signed for Southampton’s academy in 2018. He’s been on the bench this season, and should soon make his first team debut.
