Around the time Leeds United won the Championship title, there was a blast of transfer rumours around the club, especially coming from the Argentine media.

Local reports suddenly started claiming that Marcelo Bielsa would try to bring a long list of compatriots to Elland Road, with most of them coming straight from Argentina.

We pointed out many times how strange it sounded, and apparently, there’s confirmation from Leeds United that these rumours make no sense.

La Nación brings today a story which is mostly about Bielsa’s contract situation. And after speaking to sources from the club, they also have a stance on these possible signings.

It’s claimed that in contact with La Nación, Leeds United’s board dismissed rumours about the transfers of Juan Foyth, Lucas Martínez Quarta, Thiago Almada, Nicolás González and Pedro de la Vega.

They also claim Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul ‘wasn’t asked for by Bielsa’ and the rumours came from sources close to club president Andrea Radrizzani.
