“Nothing serious, nothing true” – Manager plays down chances of taking over at Arsenal

With Unai Emery being shown the door last week, Arsenal are currently without a manager.

The London club gave the reins to Freddie Ljungberg on a temporary basis, but his first outing wasn’t all that successful, as the Gunners drew to Norwich 2-2 away from home.

Time will tell if the Swede is the man to redress the situation, and there’s no guarantee he’ll get the job full time like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did at Manchester United, so, in the meantime, the search for a new manager continues.

One of the names pushed by various outlets around Europe has been that of Patrick Vieira, currently in charge of OGC Nice.

We wrote an article a few months ago looking at how a return to his former club would make sense for the Arsenal legend, and why it could work, but, for now, he maintains his future is in the south of France.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Ligue 1 midweek games, he said, relayed by Le10 Sport: “I’m getting the impression that it disturbs you more than it does me or the club. There’s nothing to say on the subject. There’s nothing serious, nothing true. I don’t have any comments to say regarding that topic.”

Pretty adamant stuff from the 43-year-old, and it seems there’s no real interest to take over at the Emirates from his end, although perhaps that could change if Arsenal made him a very enticing offer.

Or it won’t, and he’s set on finishing the season with Nice.

Either way, time will tell.
