With Jadon Sancho now a bonafide success story, heading to the Bundesliga has never been more appealing for a young player.
Sancho, as well as several other youngsters, have proven that the German top flight is the place to be if you want to get the first-team football you need and develop your game.
Lukas Nmech is undoubtedly hoping that will be the case this season. The 20-year-old belongs to Manchester City, having joined them as a youngster and worked his way up through the youth ranks at the club.
City’s squad is full of talent, though, with the club among the toughest in the world to break into as a youngster.
That means he’s yet to properly break into the first-team picture, although he does have three senior appearances to his name.
Instead, he’s sought out first-team football elsewhere, electing to join Wolfsburg on loan for this campaign, with the Bundesliga side having an option to turn it permanent for €7m should it prove to be a successful one.
“Pep is the best coach in the world!” he told Sport Bild.
“He treated everyone the same, whether star or talent. He advised me then that I should watch Agüero closely to get a good look. He said that’s how good I can get when I work a lot.
“Pep called me and wished me luck. He told me that he is convinced of me, and I should continue to accelerate. Now I want to make it into the first team and help with goals.”
